Rumors have been circulating for some time now that HTC will launch a gold version of the HTC One, and they seem to be true as the company has today confirmed that they are indeed creating an 18-carat version of the phone. However there’s a catch, there will only be five of them made, and one of which will be held exclusively for the MOBO Awards 2013 Best Newcomer winner.

Valued at £2,750, this model will have the same gold plating but will also include a laser-etched MOBO 18 logo on the back of the handset.

Of course it will also feature the same 4.7 inch screen, with front-facing BoomSound speakers, UltraPixel camera and HTC’s Sense 5 UI.

“The best artists have always been given gold discs to celebrate their success, but today most people listen to music on their phone. We wanted to celebrate that fact … We’re sure the winning MOBO artist will love their unique phone and we will even be giving a lucky member of the general public the chance to get their hands on one soon too.” said Phil Blair, HTC President for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

As this is in partnership with Goldgenie you can still get a gold version of the HTC One, even if you are a normal person, with their website stating that they will coat you HTC One in 24ct gold for £987.
