As has been rumoured for some time now, HTC unveiled two new devices for their new range of devices, called U.
They are called the HTC U Ultra and the HTX U Play, which are a pair of new devices that have been designed “for you”, which they want to do with their new HTC Sense Companion, which is a new app that will get to know you and use that data to manage your phone in a more personal way.
Thus includes things like managing your battery life for what you normally do daily to making suggestions about how to better your alarms.
The U Ultra is the flagship in this new U range, but it definitely isn’t aimed to be the flagship device from HTC, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chooser, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card for expanding that storage.
To top it all off, the Ultra has a 5.7-inch Quad HD display which has a second ticker display to show notifications.
On the back, there’s also a 12-megapixel sensor with OIS and laser focusing that comes alongside a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
The HTC U Play is slightly lower powered, featuring a MediaTek Helio P10 chooser, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.
It does feature a fairly large 5.2-inch display that is only Full HD and doesn’t come with that second display. It does include a 16-megapixel sensor on both the front and the rear of the device, however, there is no laser focusing on this model.
One of the biggest features of these two devices is their design. They use something that HTC is calling “liquid surface”, which is basically a finish that has been made to look like liquid, as the name might suggest. To top this, both feature glass panels on both the front and back.
The HTC U Ultra and U Play will be available in the UK around mid-February, coming in white, black, blue and pink, prices are still to be confirmed.
