Huawei has today announced a couple of new set-top boxes, to work with the YouView service, both boxes aim to provide a similar service to that of premium services like Sky, but for free.

The first is the Huawei YouView+ DN371T set-top box, featuring a 500GB storage capacity, it can record up to 300 hours of SD programming or 125 hours of HD shows, two of which can be recorded at the same time, as well as allowing users to watch a recorded show, or on-demand content at the same time as recording a show.

The box can also access over 70 digital TV and radio channels, and features a 15-day TV guide, as well as being able to access services like BBC iPlayer, ITV Player or 4oD whilst connected to the internet.

Users can also pause, record and rewind programmes and series-link record shows with a press of a single button.

The Huawei YouView+ DN371T can be bought for a one-off cost of £220 from Amazon, Maplin and eBuyer.

Humax launches 2TB DTR-T1010

Second on the list of announcements for is a new YouView box from Humax that offers a more spacious 2TB of storage space, offering up to 1200 hours of SD recording, or 500 hours of HD content.

The box can also access 70 free digital TV and radio channels, and can access BBC iPlayer, 4OD and Demand 5 like the previous box.

David Faulkner, head of corporate and business development, YouView said: “We are focused on offering a simple and easy to use TV service and we’re pleased that even more programme storage is now available to customers who enjoy using the record functionality on YouView.”

The Humax DTR-T1010/2TB box is available now from Humax Direct for £300.
