If you are planning to pick up a MacBook Pro then you may know that it is lacking on the port side, with only 4 USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 3) ports and nothing else.

So you are going to need some dongles or some kind of dock to sort that out.

Thankfully as time goes on we are seeing more solutions to that, the latest of which is the HyperDrive, which is a pretty cool dock that has been launched on Kickstarter this week to bring more ports to the MacBook Pro.

It plugs into a pair of USB Type-C ports on one side of the notebook, with which, it will utilise the available 45Gbps bandwidth and provide a total of 7 extra ports.

It features a USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, a normal USB Type-C port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, and an SD and microSD card slot.

But probably the most interesting feature is the pair of HDMI ports on the dock.

These ports can be used at the same time, allowing you to hook up a single Thunderbolt 3 display for up to an 8K resolution at 60Hz, and a 4K display alongside that over HDMI at 30Hz simultaneously. And that’s not all, the HyperDrive can also put out 100W of power, allowing you to plug in and charge your MacBook Pro (the 13-inch or 15-inch version) as well as the accessories.

But that’s still not all, it will also come with a small form factor of 115 x 28.5 x 8.5mm that weighs just 34g.

It is also built with aluminium with space gray and silver colours available.

You can find out more about the HyperDrive at the source link below, where you can also back the project if you are interested.
