IK Multimedia has been doing well at announced new versions of its iRig guitar adapter for smartphone and tablets over the last few years, and this year is no difference.

Making the announcement during today’s CES 2015, the next generation of iRig, the iRig 2 allows for similar features as previous devices but with some new ones too.

Still allowing users to replace their guitar pedal with an iPhone, Mac or Android device and an app, the iRig 2 allows users to plug in a 1/4 inch cable into both the input and output jack, allowing them to use the companies mobile apps like AmpliTube alongside their own pre-existing amplifier.

With the app users can select various effects to add, allowing for easy to use pedal extensions but with software.

THere’s also a new toggle switch that will allow users to bypass the mobile device entirely.

The iRig 2 will be available in Q1 of 2015 priced at $39.99/€29.99.
