Ikea has today announced their own solution to the problem that is messy cables, revealing that they will be launching a brand new line of furniture in the US this spring that will include its own wireless charging functionality.

To make it work all the user has to do is place their wireless charging compatible phone or the device on top of the plus sign and it will begin charging, and for other devices Ikea has included a USB outlet, allowing you to plug-in any other device that uses a USB port to charge.

“With the help of our wireless chargers, we make charging easy, fun and convenient, by turning furniture into charging spots. We enable convenient charging throughout the home, designed for your personal needs. At the same time, we make homes more beautiful by minimizing the use of cords. Nobody likes cords, yet everyone wants a fully functional home. With our wireless chargers, it’s possible to have both.” – Björn Block, IKEA Range Manager for Lighting and Wireless Charging

To make the charging feature as accessible and natural as possible, Ikea has decided to include this into their side tables and lamps, meaning that you could have a charger in every room without having to worry about cable management.

Alongside that  they also have a number of wireless chargers that the user can build into their own furniture, instead of having to buy something new.

You can take a look at all the new wireless charging products at the source link below.

As of yet there is no news on worldwide availability, but they will launch in the US in late spring.
