Remember when Facebook purchased Instagram and we didn’t know why? Well the service has just announced some new terms and conditions that will mean any photo posted to the service can be sold by them to any advertiser it chooses, without giving you anything in return.

Yup a little f**ked up right, thankfully you have until January 16th to delete your account before the updated T&C come into effect, after that date you will automatically opted in to the new terms and conditions which read:

“Some or all of the Service may be supported by advertising revenue, to help us deliver interesting paid or sponsored content or promotions, you agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.”

And that’s not all as the service also mentioned the following:

“If you are under the age of eighteen (18), or under any other applicable age of majority, you represent that at least one of your parents or legal guardians has also agreed to this provision (and the use of your name, likeness, username, and/or photos (along with any associated metadata)) on your behalf.”

So yh you should probably start kicking your teenage daughters and sons of the service about now…

Let us know what you think about this below, will you be leaving Instagram.
