To market the launch of their new programmable drone, the Shooting Star, Intel wanted to amaze drone lovers with a fantastic light show that Intel made up of 500 Shooting Star drones.

Intel explained more:

The fleet is easily programmed, assembled and operated to create beautifully choreographed images in the nighttime sky for an amazing new entertainment experience.

Automate the animation creation process by using an image and quickly calculating the number of drones needed, determining where drones should be placed and formulating the fastest path to create the image in the sky.

All of this was designed to market to launch of this new quadrocopter that weighs just 280g.

To host the event, Intel worked with the FAA to receive a Part 107 Waiver that allowed them to fly the drones as a fleet, with one pilot, at night in the US.

You can check out the light show via the video below, the source link below that will also provide you with more information.
