A few days ago we heard a rumor that the iPhone 5 will be released in October, but if this rumore is anything to go by that is defiantly false, as according to The Guardian carriers are already testing the fith iPhone, meaning the device could be reveaaled a lot sooner than we think.

Apple are said to be shipping these devices in sealed containers which are only accessible to a very small number of high-level staff, the phone itself will also be incased in a ‘dummy body’ which will leave no indication of what the device will look like at release, or some of it’s features, this was also what they did when they tested the iPhone 4, where they incased the phone in a 3GS design, so no one overlooking would realise the phone was the new iPhone.

According to The Guardian’s source Apple sends their phones before lanch in order to test them for compatiblity against differnt networks, which makes sense:

My carrier sources tell me that the boxes in which the new iPhone hardware is encased have been transported to carriers for testing. This is an important step in the release cycle for any phone. … The next iPhones go for their testing inside locked and sealed boxes so that the carriers can carry out checks on their network compatibility in their labs. It’s very high security, as you could guess; my understanding is that barely anyone inside the carriers gets to open those boxes, and even when they do the hardware is encased in a dummy body which means there’s no clue to what the actual phone will do.

The source has also claimed that Apple will only send devices out several weeks before actual launch, meaning the iPhone 5’s release could be much sooner than expected, but this still doesn’t prove anything as Apple could afterall be testing the phone to make sure they don’t run into problems like last time.

What do you think? A September release after all? When do you think the iPhone 5 will be relesed?
