The Up by Jawbone was originally released in the UK last year, but after a lot of customers reported various issues with the band itself, after which the company decoded to go back to the drawing board, suspending sales and production until they found something new.

Finally the company has what they think is the solution with the new Up, which now measures more than just movement, with micro motion sensors the wristband can measure sleep patterns and even work out stats whilst you asleep, such as how long it took you to fall asleep, how much deep sleep you had compared to light and how often you woke up.

There’s also a new Power Nap and Smart Alarm feature, to wake you up at the best point during your sleep cycle, through the iPhone application you can even track your food intake, allowing you to scan barcodes and store a database of nutritional information, which will all be searchable.

But the main feature is of course the general motion functionality to record and calculate total steps, intensity of movement, distance and calories burnt, and if you have been inactive for a period of time the band will vibrate, urging you to do something else.

The band has also been encased in a medical-grade hypoallergenic rubber which means it’s fairly water-resistant, and has a battery life of up to 50 days without being recharging.

The new Up will be available in US for today and the UK early next year, in the US the Up will set you back $129.99 available in  onyx, mint green, light grey, blue, navy blue, red, orange and hunter green all in three different sizes, small, medium and large.
