Jawbone announced the UP3 at the end of last year, however up to now we have been patiently awaiting a released date for the activity and fitness tracker. Thankfully Jawbone has today cleared up that with the announcement that the Jawbone UP3 will launch in the US on April 20th.

This was announced in the company’s recent blog post, that also explained that the delay was because of problems with scaling the manufacturing process to meet new demands, with some units not ending up at the end correctly, without their waterproof claims.

“We are pleased to announce customer availability dates for UP3, our newest, multi-sensor tracker. We sincerely apologize for the delay and frustration that this has caused, and we are deeply grateful for the patience and continued support of our customers. UP3 is currently in mass production and will begin shipping on April 20th to all US customers who have pre-ordered from Jawbone.com.”

Jawbone has stated that all pre-orders will be fulfilled in the order that they were received, stating that they expect all buyers to receive their units by mid-May.

Anyone who orders from today will get their units after all of these pre-orders have been shipped.

However because of the problems the company has had with waterproofing, the UP3 is not guaranteed for depths of up to 10 meters any more, now it’s simply resistant to splashes.

Jawbone will be offering everyone a refund who pre-ordered the device because of its previous waterproof claims.
