Over the course of the last few years we have wrote about a ton of Kickstarter projects, be it for a new home automation system, a smartwatch, or anything else in the gadgets and technology areas, and generally that’s what most of the funded Kickstarter projects are about.
Well apart from this one.
Dubbed Potato Salad, this Kickstarter campaign aims to do exactly what it says on the tin, with its creator Zack Danger Brown looking to create a potato salad for $10 has somehow managed to raise $20,000 in just a couple of days.
Since breaking his $10 goal, the creator has thought up some extra stretch goals, the highest being one to pay someone to make a thank you video for $1,200, which he has since steamed across.
In fact at the time of writing the campaign has raised over $24,000 and it still has 25 days until completion.
It’s pretty crazy to think that a campaign to make a potato salad has gone so far, and Brown thinks so too, posting the following on his recent Reddit AMA:
“I never thought it would go this far. $10 seemed like a good, conservative goal. I think the thing people are responding to is the opportunity to come together around something equal parts absurd and mundane. Potato Salad isn’t controversial, but it seems to unite us all.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how much further this campaign will go.
