Kim Dotcom has today announced the launch of a new video chat service, called MegaChat it was launched in beta today for all Mega users.

With the launch Kim Dotcom is looking to take on Skype with a number of features that make his service better in some people’s opinions, the first one being that all calls are encrypted and the second is that there is no need to download any software, all calls are made directly from the browser.

Kim Dotcom has already stated that the service allowed for over 500,000 encrypted video calls from the service within the first hour of its release.

In its current beta form MegaChat can only allow for both audio and video calls, however they say that text and video conferencing features will be added soon.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the service grows over the next few months.

You can find out more about it before then however at the source link below.
