Just a few hours after Apple’s ‘Hello World’ LaCie unveils the Bolt 3, which is an extremely expensive 2TB external SSD, which starts at $2,000 in the US.

It was designed to work alongside the new MacBook Pro that Apple unveiled this week, and uses the Thunderbolt 3 port for read/write speeds of 2,600MB per second, as well as access to masses of storage, set at up to 2TB from a single drive.

LaCie claims it is the world’s fastest desktop storage solution.

They say that it can transfer 1TB of 4K footage from the drive itself to a RAID storage device in about minutes for example.

But you should take note that this is a professional solution that is capable of editing 4K, 5K, and 6K video with minimum latency according to LaCie, so that price tag is probably quite justified.
