Recent Call of Duty games have not gone as well for Activision as they hoped, with many gamers wishing that the publisher would get rid of the fancy modern military tech and bring things back to the ground.

Back in February of this year, Activision did state that it would be bringing the Call of Duty franchise “back to its roots” during an earnings call, which had many people thinking that the next game could have a World War II storyline, and might finally bring the boots on the ground gameplay that so many people know CoD for.

Today a YouTube channel named TheFamilyVideoGamers might have leaked just that, posting a series of what they claim to be promotional images from someone “close to the project over at Sledgehammer”.

In the images, we can see scenes of what appears to be the Allied landings at Normandy in 1944, along with a title for the game, Call of Duty: WWII.

If real, this could definitely be exciting news for the CoD franchise, however, with nothing official just yet, we can’t really be sure.

That said, we would take a guess at the game being announced sometime before, during, or after E3 2017.
