LG has today detailed their brand new smartwatch after it teased the announcement a few days ago. Dubbed the LG G Watch R, the smartwatch has a circular design that is similar to the Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola, and also runs on Android Wear, again the same as the Moto 360.

The LG G Watch R features a 1.3-inch circular Plastic OLED display that uses 100% per cent of its watch face, which makes it slightly different from the Moto 360 which has black bars along the circumference.

“What we’ve noticed in the year of the wearable is that this is a category that can’t be compared to smartphones and tablets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“Wearables are also accessories and consumers will want more than one to choose from. So we wanted to complement the modern design of the original G Watch with the classic look of the G Watch R. Customers can’t go wrong with either device.”

The watch is also powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a 410mAh battery.

It also has a protection rating of IP67, and has been designed to last up to 30 minutes in water.

The LG G Watch R will be available in a number of key markets in the fourth quarter of 2014, however as of yet no prices or details of availability have been announced yet.
