LG has this week revealed that they will be bringing some new smart appliances to CES 2014 next month, all of which will reportedly feature Natural Language Processing technology that will allow users to monitor and control the appliances via a mobile messaging app.

Working with the LINE mobile messaging service from LG, LG HomeChat will allow users to send their appliances messages in order to let them know if they are going on vacation, or even issue new commands.

An example of which was given by LG, who said that you could send the appliances a message such as “I will be on vacation for three days,” to which it will respond “Should I go into vacation mode?”

The owner of the appliances can then reply with either yes or no, if they respond yes the appliances will then enter their power saving modes and set vacation schedules for tasks.
