A new smart lock has been launched on Kickstarter this week, called LIME, it has been designed to get rid of the hassle of unlocking a door with a key, and by using a number of advanced methods it can allow you to get in your home without worring about where your keys are, or how you are going to get them.

In fact by using Bluetooth, NFC and RFID, the lock can allow you to forget about your keys completely, all you need is a smartphone or an RFID card and you are ready to go.

And if you don’t have either of those, you are still good to go, as the lock also features an integrated keypad to allow you to unlock the door with a PIN. More interestingly, the PIN can also be used with multiple users and with the companion app, you are able to generate temporary key codes to let in short-term guests whilst away from home.

The unit itself measures just 2-1/2 x 6.3/8 inches, and can be installed on any door that uses a standard deadbolt. It is finished with a sleek design that brings you door into the future, with a rounded touchpad and a matte silver finish.

The unit is also powered by a total of 4 AA batteries, which are said to last around a year.

When the batteries do get low, the app will alert you, and a 9-volt emergency power contact can then be used to ensure entry. The unit also has a hidden backup key slot, with an optional WiFi Gateway to connect LIME to the internet, allowing you to remotely control or monitor the lock.

You can check out LIME at the source link below, those who pledge from $159 will get a pre-order of the device, which is expected to ship in August this year if the campaign is successful.
