Today Linksys announced the next-generation version of its WRT line of routers.

Named the Linksys AC3200 WRT Gigabit MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router, it is claimed to be the fastest dual-band router on the market.

This is mostly thanks to the fact that it supports MU-MIMO, a networking technology that dramatically improves performance by providing dedicated bandwidth to any compatible device, allowing everyone on the network to take up bandwidth at once.

On top of that, the Linksys WRT3200ACM uses a 160MHz channel width over three streams, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 2.6Gbps according to Linksys.

The router is also open source ready.

This feature allows you to customize the router how you want. You can set it up to work perfectly alongside set applications, use it to access TOR networks, set up web servers, create Wi-Fi hotspots and much more.

It’s a pretty cool router.

You can pick it up today from the Linksys website, or from Amazon for $280 in the US.
