The Linux Mint 18 operating system is set to be released next month, but ahead of that time, a new beta version of the operating system has been released to developers this week.

Allowing developers to check out the new features of Linux Mint 18, the beta version will come with a range of new applications, themes and more to check out.

What’s more, it will also be a long-term support release, meaning that it will be supported with updates until 2021.

The official Linux Mint website explains:

Linux Mint 18 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2021. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use. This new version of Linux Mint contains many improvements.

System requirements:

– 512MB RAM (1GB recommended for a comfortable usage).
– 9GB of disk space (20GB recommended).
– Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution (1024×768 recommended).
– DVD drive or USB port.
