As of today you will now be able to use any contactless payment-enabled credit, debit or any other card with the contactless payment symbol to pay for your London bus tickets.

Of course you will still be able to use your already existing Oyster card alongside it or instead, with payments costing the same via Mastercard’s PayPass as they would do with the Oyster card, which from 2013 will be £1.40 for a single, however if you still want to pay by cash you will have to pay a little extra from 2013 with prices set at £2.40 for the same ticket.

This means that commuters can completely skip the time they used to spending topping up their Oyster balance and don’t have to worry  about leaving it at home.

From next year you will also be able to use a PayPass enabled smartphone to buy tickets.
