Apple’s Mac Pro has been left behind somewhat in Apple’s upgrade schedule, leaving some of Apple’s more high-end customers forced to look at other options, or simply wait for an upgrade from the company. For the later the wait is now finally over, after confirming it in 2012, Apple have finally released the latest version of their Mac Pro.

Designed to site above your table and not below it, the Mac Pro is incredibly small, measuring 9.9 inches tall, 6.6 inches in diameter and weighing only 11 pounds.

There’s also the choice of either a 4-core, 6-core, 8-core or 12-core Intel Xeon processor, with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 3.9GHz, two AMD FirePro GPUs, PCIe flash storage and ECC DDR3 RAM, all designed to allow for complete 4K editing and viewing.

We didn’t get a chance to look at the new Mac Pro from Apple just yet, but we won’t simply leave you to wait as thankfully some other sites have today posted their own reviews, and as usual our review roundup is here to show you their views.

The Verge: “The new Mac Pro is an undeniably serious and powerful machine aimed at professionals. But it’s also incredibly expensive, and at least from my Adobe-centric perspective, it’s not quite worth the outlay right now.” Score- 8.5/10.

EnGadget: “There isn’t another computer we know of that’s this powerful and also this compact. ” Score- 91/100

CNET:  “Apple radically re-imagines the professional desktop with the new Mac Pro, featuring a design looks fantastic and offers genuine breakthrough advantages. But, consumer-level Apple enthusiasts should note that this product isn’t specifically targeted at them and DIY upgraders will lament the loss of traditional desktop tower flexibility.” Score – 4/5.
