Mastercard has today announced that they are rolling out a new technology called Identity Check Mobile, which has already been trailed in the US, Canada and in the Netherlands, but after finding success, Mastercard revealed that they will be rolling it out to 12 European  countries, including the UK.

Mastercard is using this technology to allow you to secure payments behind a fingerprint or an image of your face, instead of a password or other memorable data.

To get started, you need to download the Mastercard app, take a selfie and then you are done.

After that, Mastercard will use the stored photo for reference when you make a future purchase, at which point the app will make you blink to make sure that you are human.
