The BBC has today revealed that Matt LeBlanc will be joining Chris Evans to host the new season of Top Gear, which comes after the former star of Friends appeared on the show and made the fastest lap of the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment with a time of 1 minute 42.1 seconds.

Matt LeBlanc announced his new position with the following:

“As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter.”

“What a thrill!”

Chris Evans also gave the following comment about Matt:

“Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas.”

“We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year,” he added.

This comes after the show’s previous presenters, James May, Richard Hammond and Jermy Clarkson announced that they will be leaving for a new car show on Amazon Prime.

The new series of Top Gear will return in May.
