A lot of gamers have been complaining about SimCity including DRM technology, forcing users to stay online whilst playing the game, even creating a petition to make the game offline, however Maxis confirmed on Twitter that they have “no intention” of doing so.

The quote comes from a Tweet from the boss of Maxis, Lucy Bradshaw who said in a Q&A, “We have no intention of offlining SimCity any time soon, but we’ll look into that as part of our earning back your trust efforts.”

Which wasn’t unexpected, EA have been adding the feature to a variant of games recently in order to stop piracy of their titles, and I can’t see them giving it up anytime soon.

However this is at the cost of the gamers, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up taking titles the same way it did with Spore a few years ago.
