McDonald’s has today announced a new idea that aims to help get kids fit, announcing that they will be including step trackers in Happy Meals from a range of McDonald’s locations in North America.

The step tracker wristbands are named “Step-it” and come as part of their “get kids active” campaign.

It’s made from transparent plastic, featuring an adjustable wristband, and a single button on the front that allows you to toggle the tracker’s power or reset the step count.

The Step-it also features an LED that will blink in time with the wearer’s steps, a slow walk will show as an occasional blink, whilst jogging or sprint will show a much faster blinking.

McDonald’s Canada senior marketing manager, Michelle McIlmoyle said the following about it in a press release:

“Physical activity is important to everyone of all ages. We very much support children’s well-being, Step-it is in line with McDonald’s general philosophy for Happy Meal toys, which is to make toys that encourage either physical or imagination-based play.”

To promote the idea, McDonald’s will be debuting a TV and YouTube ad blitz over the next few weeks.

It will be included in every Happy Meal that is sold in the US or Canada, with a range of six colour options, including pink, tellow, blue, green, orange, and red.
