Microsoft Studios has just announced that it has acquired the rights to the Gears of War games franchise from Mundane Games, as well as brining back the former director of production for the first three games, Rod Fergusson.

The deal should be a highly successful acquisition for Microsoft Studios, becoming the biggest games the studio has on its portfolio, especially since the game grossed over $1 billion in its lifetime, despite being and exclusive to the Xbox 360, and slightly released for the PC.

Due to the disappointment that was largely found from the fourth game, the reinstatement of Fergusson should be a good one for the franchise, hopefully allowing them to create a game for the Xbox One that is on the same level as the previous titles.

Well we hope that happens anyway.
