We have been hearing rumours about a smart watch from Microsoft for some time and now it is finally official.

Unveiled today, the Microsoft Band is a fitness band that will work with any Windows Phone 8.1, Apple divide running iOS 7.1+ or an Android device running 4.3 or above.

The band features a 1.4 inch display with a 320 x 106 pixel resolution, and inside there’s a total of 10 different sensors and includes two built in 100 mAh batteries that provide up to two days of usage according to the company.

The Microsoft Band also features a built-in microphone that can be used to control Microsoft’s Cortana service on Windows Phone devices, but it doesn’t work with iOS or Android.

The sensors themselves include a 24 hour heart rate monitor, a UV monitor, GPS, sleep tracking and more.

The band can also connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth via Bluetooth 4.0 LE, allowing it to receive notifications for texts, emails, Facebook, Twitter and more.

It is also dust and splash resistant and measures 11mm x 33mm.

The Microsoft Band is now available in small, medium and large and is available from their online store today.
