Today Microsoft unveiled their own smart thermostat called GLAS.

This thermostat is particularly interesting because it not only features a sleek and modern design but also Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant inbuilt, which is one of the first devices to use this outside of a computer or phone (aside from the Invoke speaker from Harman Kardon). This integration allows GLAS to provide voice control capabilities with integration with the Windows 10 IoT Core operating system and Microsoft’s Azure Cloud computing services.

You can also use the thermostat to adjust the temperature settings, which comes alongside indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring and the ability to look at information about your energy usage and habits, all of which is displayed on a simply gorgeous translucent touchscreen.

The thermostat was built and designed by Johnson Controls, who are a company that invented the first electric room thermostat.
