It is fair to say that Minecraft is has become a very popular game for the PC, but recently it has been ported onto portable devices such as touch screen phones and tablets, these come in the form of Minecraft – Pocket Edition. On the 24th of November, 13th Labs and Mojang released The Minecraft Reality app. This brand new app allows you to view the real world in the virtual form all Minecraft players have come to know and love., it can be downloaded straight to your iOS through the app store. The app is £1.49, which for an app is quite expensive seeing as you could get two of the Angry Birds game for the same price as this. For this money you would expect it to be quite something.
The app essentially adds another layer to the camera on your phone, in which you can pin your Minecraft creation on any flat surface such as a desk or wall. To explain it more easily here is the description supplied straight from the iPhone app store:
‘Officially supported by Mojang. Minecraft Reality lets you combine Minecraft worlds with the real world! Using advanced computer vision, Minecraft Reality maps and tracks the world around you using the camera, and allows you to place Minecraft worlds in reality, and even save them in a specific location for others to look at. You can also upload your own Minecraft worlds at http://minecraftreality.com and place these in reality.’
Unfortunately as the app is quite resource hungry it is optimised for iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 5G, and newer iPads. This means anything before these will not be able to support it or will have a hard time supporting it.
