Earlier last month RED revealed that they would be working on their first smartphone, the Hydrogen One.

They didn’t provide much more than a teaser image, however, this week that was upcoming thanks to a hands-on video by the YouTuber MKBHD. He took a look at a number of prototypes of the phone from RED, a non-working unit, a unit with a separate camera module, and a final model with a holographic display, however, they do provide a look at the kind of thing that RED is thinking of for this new smartphone.

One thing that Marques Brownlee did point out in his video is just how big the smartphone is, RED have no problems with designing big gear, and this smartphone looks to be no different.

One of interesting thing is that it features a dedicated video recording button on the back of the smartphone, with stereo speakers on the front, a dual-camera setup on the back, and a headphone jack on the bottom.

He also got a look at the phone’s “holographic display” in one of the prototypes, however, he had to blur the phone out when he was using it. He did say that he was shown both four demensional content as well as 2D video, all with a “crazy, deep, sort of 3D look” according to the YouTuber, however, he did say that it “definitely wasn’t perfect.”
