Netatmo has announced the expansion of their range of smart home devices at CES 2017 this week, unveiling the new Smart Smoke Alarm which is set to take on the Nest Protect.

Netatmo’s Smart Smoke Alarm works in a similar way to the Protect as a battery powered device that connects to your home network, providing users with a local 85dB alarm.

It will also be capable of sending notifications to your smartphone.

You will also be able to install a number of these Smoke Alarms in your home, allowing you to fit one to a number of rooms and receive notifications about a specific problem around your home. Netatmo says that the Smoke Alarm will last a total of 10 years from the battery that is installed on it and the device will also self-test itself and will send a weekly report to your smartphone on how it is working.

It also supports IFTTT and Apple’s HomeKit.

The Netatmo Smart Smoke Alarm will be available in the second half of 2017. There’s no word on pricing, but we will let you know about that when we hear about it.
