We can already access music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music offline, however, you can also use some video streaming services offline, but the biggest doesn’t currently offer that.

That is obviously Netflix, who are reportedly working on the launch of offline viewing on the service.

This is according to a statement given to the communications site LightReading by the chief operating officer of mobile video software company Penthera, Dan Taitz, who said the following about it:

“We know from our sources within the industry that Netflix is going to launch this product, my expectation is that by the end of the year Netflix will be launching download-to-go as an option for their customers.”

Sadly, Netflix has yet to confirm this themselves, only revealing the following in response:

“While our focus remains on delivering a great streaming experience, we are always exploring ways to make the service better. We don’t have anything to add at this time.”

As soon as they do reveal more details about offline viewing we will let you know.
