Netgear has this week announced a new HD security camera called the Netgear Arlo Q, offering 1080p high-definition video with two-way communication.

Designed to compete with devices like the Nest Cam, DropCam and others, the IP camera is equipped with a 4-megapixel image sensor that has built-in night vision to provide video in darkness and a 130 degree lens.

The camera can also connect to a smartphone application for iOS and Android to provide notifications.

Pat Collins, vice president of smart home products at Netgear explains more :

With Arlo Q, our goal is to deliver an incredible end-to-end experience that leaves you feeling as though you are right there in your home, even though you may be a world away. In addition to Arlo Q’s amazing HD video and audio quality, we are excited to be adding a new set of powerful software features to the Arlo platform, including motion zones, continuous video recording, and digital zoom, that will even further enhance the Arlo experience.

And by combining Arlo Q with our 100% wire-free cameras, we now provide you with the only solution on the market that easily covers every angle of your home or business – indoors and outdoors, day and night, all from the same app.

The Arlo Q will be available next month throughout the US as well as launching in Australia, Canada, and Europe the near future for $220 or £170 or €220.
