Netgear has today announced the succession to their Arlo range of smart cameras.

Called the Arlo Pro, it is a wire-free home security camera that cameras with some smart features and a sleek design. Netgear says that it is the camera is the perfect option to record footage of the inside of your house or the outside of it.

Because it is wire-free, you don’t need to run any wires to get the camera running, instead it comes with a built in rechargeable battery, allowing you to place the camera where you need it. That said, you do have the option to plug it if you want.

When it’s time to recharge the camera you can either plug it in, or drop it into the optional dual-bay Arlo Pro Charging Station.

The camera is also capable of recording HD video, with two-way audio recording, a 130 degree field of view and a weatherproof body.

It also has night vision and activity detection and links up to a companion app on smartphones to extend the cameras capabilities. On top of that, it can also link with the Arlo app on the Apple TV, which can show notifications from the camera directly on your TV.

The Arlo Pro also has a smart siren, which has been rated at 100+ decibels and sounds from the Arlo’s base station in the event that it detects an intruder.

Arlo will also come with 7 days of free cloud recording, you can expand upon that with a subscription to one of their service plans, which allow you to connect up to 5 wire-free cameras.

Arlo Pro will be available in the UK in January for from £259.99, you can also add-on extra cameras for an extra £169.99.
