If you are looking to upgrade your home’s wireless capabilities then you might be interested in Netgear’s latest unveiling this week.

Called the X6S or R8000P, it is an upgraded version of the Nighthawk X6 (R8000) router, which was pretty awesome back when it was unveiled, however, it has aged slightly.

With the X6S, Netgear has upgraded that router with a range of new modern features that will provide you with the latest capabilities with a budget router. It features six antennas that sit along the side of the device just like the X6 router, however, unlike the previous model, the X6S upgrades the previous AC3200 capability to AC4000, providing 750 + 1,625 + 1,625 Mbps speeds across the bands.

The new model also comes with MU-MIMO (Multiple User – Multiple Input, Multiple Output) as well as an upgraded processor from the X6’s dual-core 1GHz up to a dual-core 64-bit 1.8GHz GPU on this new X6S model.

To top that off, the router keeps the Amazon Alexa support, allowing you to check settings and turn your network on/off with your voice.

Around the back of the router, you will also find a total of 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, four of which are LAN and one is a WAN port.

You can also aggregate two of these LAN ports for greater than 1Gbps speeds with compatible devices. It also comes with two USB Type-A ports, one of which is 2.0 and the other 3.0.

The Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Gigabit MU-MIMO WiFI Router (R8000P will be available on June 30th for $299.99 in the US or £239.99 in the UK.
