Netflix has today one upped the cable giants, grabbing no less than 31 Emmy notifications for a number of its original programmes.
This is more than double the number of Emmy awards that it had last year, but is still for similar programmes, with 13 nominations for House of Cards, 12 nominations for Orange is the new Black, and a few more for Derek, The Square, and Brave Miss World.
However despite 31 seeming like a big number, its not that big when you consider that in total HBO has 99 nominations for its programming, however you probably shouldn’t take that the wrong way, as this is a huge step for online streaming, even with HBO grabbing more nominations, as a lot of their service is streamed online too, alongside that Game of Thrones was in the line-up.
Aside from Netflix and HBO, AMC has 26 nominations, Showtime has 24, Comedy Central got 21 and Fox received 18 nominations for the Emmys.
This year’s ceremony will be the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and will kick of on August 25th, when it will be recognising any broadcasts that were shown from June 2013 to May 2014.
