After 80 years Newsweek is retiring the print edition of its magazine in favour of a fully digital format, with the last printed issue of the magazine going on sale on December 31st in the US, followed by editions in other countries.

The news comes from a statement published on The Daily Beast from the CEO of The Newsweek Daily Beast Co, Baba Shetty.

The new online version will also be renamed Newsweek Global, offering the same sort of news which is targeted a worldwide audience which will be available as a subscription, allowing users to access it either on a tablet or on the web, some content will also be available on The Daily Beast site.

Theres no word on how much the subscription will be just yet however.
