Updating their Coolpix range, Nikon has today announced the successor to the previously announced S6500, now called the S6600 they have updated the camera with a new vari-angle LCD screen, to allow for more control over the composition of shots.

However it still shares many similar specifications to its predecessor including the 12x optical zoom, 16 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor and built-in WiFi.

However Nikon have also added gesture control to the camera, allowing you to capture videos or stills, or even control the zoom using a gesture towards to camera, it can also shoot in Full HD 1080p, with audio recorded in stereo.

There’s also new special effects that can be added to photos, as well as new scene modes.

The Nikon Coolpix S6600 will be available from early September priced at £199.99, launching in black, red, purple and white.
