Nvidia has today unveiled two new GPUs, the GeForce GTX 980 and the GTX 970, both of which are based on the Maxwell chip architecture, and have been designed to overcome “some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing” according to the company.

Inside they also include a number of features that will help the GPU become the best option for next-generation gaming.

The cards will also support various VR devices including the Oculus Rift, as well as Nvidia’s new Voxel Global Illumination technology, which Nvidia says will allow for real-time and dynamic indirect lighting.

Multi-Frame Anti-Aliasing is also included, with Dynamic Super Resolution that will render graphics at resolutions up to 4K and scale them down to the monitor’s native resolution.

Both of the GPUs are available now from various manufactures including Asus, EVGA, Gainward, Galax, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, you can also grab them individually from various retailers and online retailers.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 is expected to be priced at £429, and the GTX 970 will be priced at £259.
