Bad news for owners of Sony’s Xperia Ray, Arc or Neo I’m afraid, well if your on O2 anyway, as the carrier won’t be getting to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as they did not meet the testing requirements set by the company.

Sony has already accepted the upgrade, but the final decision is actually left with the carrier themselves, after testing three versions of the OS, O2 decided not to approve the upgrade for customers on their network due to “speed and performance” issues.

Alongside the speed and performance issues, O2 also found that the software wouldn’t let you revert back to an earlier version of Android without completely restoring, this added to the aforementioned issues lead to their final decision.

Which all means the Ray, Arc and Neo will remain on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, as long as you are using O2 as your carrier.
