One of the smartphones I am most looking forward to is the YotaPhone, which is a device that features one normal display and a second E-ink display on the back.

However some might prefer to keep their current smartphone, and thankfully that’s still an option with the launch of a new Kickstarter campaign called the Oaxis InkCase+.

The InkCase+ is basically a standalone device that the user can use to read text, answer or end incoming calls from their phone, control music playback, view photos, and even view alerts from SMS, social networks and other notifications from their smartphone.

InkCase+ will even use various applications to add other features, all on an E Ink display.

“InkCase+ will let consumers personalise their phone case and allow alerts to be pushed to the low power E Ink screen. This means that when users want to check their notifications or even read a book there’s no need to power on the main screen, what’s more the low power E Ink screen also means notifications are always visible,” explained Oaxis in a press release. “The InkCase+ can provide reference materials such as maps, tickets or shopping lists even when it is out of power.”

You can pre-order an InkCase+ device from Kickstarter today for $79, or even become a business partner with Oaxis and get your own personalised case for a $10,000 pledge.
