It’s been 15 years since the PSone classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was released. A Quote from Official Xbox Magazine sums up the game rather well:‘Fifteen years ago, Lorne Lanning and the Oddworld Inhabitants built a world of righteous capitalist paranoia, oppression and uprising. Abe’s Oddysee might have sweetened the pill with a few fart jokes, but the message was one of desperation and hope. Luckily, it was also a brilliant puzzle platformer, and became an instant, beloved classic.’

The original game was a 2D side scrolling Platformer that utilised the use of a flip screen mechanic, you were able to reset puzzles by running off the screen and then running back onto the screen. However this has been changed in this new remake which using fully scrolling levels against the backdrop. This remake was first announced at the Eurogamer Expo which happened earlier this year.

Over the last few years we have seen a lot of HD remakes of games such as Silent Hill, God of War and Devil May Cry. As such we would expect the remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee to be a simple HD port but the new New N’ Tasty is instead trying innovate and improve the game. Just Add Water, the company behind the remake is remaking the puzzles to support the new 3D environments.

New N’ Tasty! launches on PS3, PS Vita, PC and Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade in autumn 2013
