The developer of the Oddworld game series, Inhabitants has this week revealed more details about their future plans for the Oddworld series.

The next game will be called Oddworld: Soulstorm, set to be released in 2017, it has been promised to feature “a fresh narrative [and] a complete story retake inspired by our original tale.”

However, Inhabitants have also said that it will also be a much darker and twisted tale than we have previously seen in the series.

The game will be a follow-up to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, and will follow on from Abe’s escape, where he now finds himself among 300 fellow Mudokons.

The creator of the series, Lorne Lanning explains more:

“There was a deeper, darker, and more sinister story that we never got to tell, Soulstorm gives us the opportunity to flesh out more meat on the bones of an original spine, but re-tell the fable from a very different angle. Abe has a long way to go and plenty more adversity ahead. Soulstorm is going to be a much heavier trip for him.”

Oddworld: Soulstorm is expected to be released in the second half of 2017, although we don’t yet knoe on what platforms it will be available on.
