Finally the rumors can come to an end, LG have just announced the launch of their latest flagship handset, the LG G2.
After sitting through multiple showings of the LG G2 teasers, the LG president and CEO Dr. Jong-Seok Park finally came up on stage to announce the new handset, apparently designed to learn from you, the smartphone was announced during LG’s event in New York City earlier today.
The G2 features a design that cannot be compared to anything else, with the power button and volume keys situated at the back for more convenience, with the added benefit of some dieting since the G1.
The rear key is situated right where the index finger is normally placed, and can be used with either the left or right hand. You can wake up the G2 by tapping it on the back, or control the camera or quick menu function just with the rear key.
The G2 will also be the world’s first smartphone that will incorporate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, allowing for faster web browsing, game playing and basically everything else you can do with a smartphone, with a quad-core processor it can deliver speeds of up to 2.3GHz per core.
Alongside this the processor also features 4G LTE advanced, GLONAS and GPS connectivity. The G2 will also feature a 3,000mAh battery, even with the rear buttons.
The G2 features a 5.2 inch screen size, designed to fit in the hand whilst keeping as much display as possible, thanks to something LG calls dual routing, allowing for a reduction in the size of the bezel, resulting in a width of just 2.7 inches.
The bezel is also just 0.1 inches, and with the use of GRAM, LG say they have reduced the battery consumption of the display, but they have still included a Full HD IPS edge-to-edge display.
The camera features an optical image stabilizer, with a 13 megapixel camera for the first time in a smartphone, allowing for clear pictures even whilst moving.
LG have also updated the speakers on the phone, in order to provide Hi-Fi technology into the smartphone, producing sound quality at 24bit 90020KHz.
With the new UX, you can tap the screen to turn it on, just hold the phone to your ear to answer calls, search texts, use the phone as a remote, enable a guest mode for other users and multitask easily.
There’s another feature called Plug & Pop that will allow the user to quickly launch an app or function as they plug-in a headset.
G2’s Guest Mode can be activated with a “G” gesture to automatically launch the guest mode, swipe your gesture however and it will launch your mode.
