After a ton of rumors and leaked photos, Samsung have finally officially announced the Galaxy S4 Active. A new rugged smartphone, the handset has been designed for those with an activee lifestyle, as the name might suggest.

With IP67 protection from dust and water, it can withstand up to 30 metres submerged in up to a meter of water, but still packs a great set of specs including a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 5 inch Full HD TFT LCD display with a 443ppi, a 2,600mAh battery and an 8 megapixel camera that includes a new “Aqua Mode”, designed to increase the visual quality and clarity whilst taking underwater photos or shooting video.

Alongside which the LED flash can also be used in low-light conditions when you don’t want to take a photo, simply long press the volume key.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will be available in Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare this summer, initially launching in both the US and Sweden.

There’s no word if the phone will make it to other territories yet however.
