With the MacBook Pro announcement, Apple revealed that they were removing a bunch of I/O from the MacBook Pro, including the SD card slot.

This means that you now need a bunch of dongles or possibly just a dock to regain access to these ports.

Today OWC announced their own solution to this with the announcement of their first Thunderbolt 3 dock, which includes a total of 13 additional ports which work over a single Thunderbolt 3 cable connected to your MacBook.

These new ports includes 5 USB-A ports, two additional Thunderbolt 3 ports that can drive a pair of 4K displays, an Gigabit Ethernet port and an SD card reader, allowing you to regain access to all of these features easily and in one place.

On top of all that, the dock even includes Firewire 800 port and an S/PDIF optical audio output.

Sadly, it does require power, so it’s not portable and it might not be the best option for you.

You can find out more about the new Thunderbolt 3 dock at the source link below, where you can also pre-order it from.
