Remember that something exciting that Pebble was going to announce? Well it was a new smart watch after all.

Called Pebble Time, the watch is the first of the companies watches to feature a colour display, whilst still using e-paper technology, meaning that the battery life can still last longer than most smart watches that are currently available.

In terms of the differences between the original Pebble and Pebble Time, Pebble Time is 20 per cent thinner, and will be compatible with both iPhone and Android devices.

You will however need iOS 8 or Android 4.0 or above to use it.

Pebble Time will also launch with its own new operating system that can organise notifications, weather, news, travel and reminders at the touch of a button.

It will also be compatible with all Pebble applications and watch faces, alongside new software that is planned, including apps from Pandora, Evernote, ESPN and more.

Pebble has launched Pebble Time on Kickstarter much like they did with the original Pebble, looking for $500,000 in total funding, and asking backers for $159 for their own Pebble Time, which will be released in May.

At the time of writing that goal has already been overachieved, currently at over $5 million, the project reached $500,000 goal in 17 minutes and $1 million in just 30 minutes, breaking Kickstarter records.
