The star of Dragon’s Den, Peter Jones has purchased the Jessops brand for an undisclosed fee, but none of the 187 high street stores with the brand name above. This is because Jones simply wants to buy the online side of the brand not the retail side of the business.

Peter Jones already owns part of so this could be a nice little expansion for him, with plans to relaunch the brand next month.

Even though he will not be buying the stores themselves, this i great news for the UK high street, as it means a business that has lasted nearly 78 years after first opening in 1935.

The sale was confirmed by the administrators, PricewaterhouseCoopers or PwC, who said the following for the sale, “We can confirm we have sold the brand and certain other assets to a number of buyers including entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE.”
