Philips unveiled a new set of speakers during IFA today that will be joining their Fidelio range, the P8 and P9 b which will be made from a combination of wood and metal and utilise Philips’ new wOOx technology and woofer drivers, the P9 however does include a cross-over filter which ensures low and mid tones are played through the woofers whilst high frequency audio is filtered through the soft dome tweeters, resulting in a much clearer sound.

Both of the speakers will however be compatible with various Bluetooth devices, or if the user prefers they can plug-in their smartphone via the USB port which will also charge the battery on the phone.

With its li-ion battery, which Philips say can last for up to 8 hours of music playback, with battery levels shown via a touch sensor.

There’s no word on a pricing structure or availability just yet but we should hear more soon.
